Denise A. Verrill
Delegate (Non-Board Member)

I am a graduate of the Swedish Institute in Manhattan and first licensed in New York. I worked for small companies and maintained a private practice in Huntington Long Island. I moved in 2002 to Tampa and became Licensed in Florida at Suncoast Tampa Bay School Of Massage. I maintain both licenses because I enjoy giving massage even when I am traveling to visit family.

I was lucky enough to be introduced to the AMTA in school, but they didn't offer free membership to students at that time!  Even so, I saw the value in a National Organization, the importance of liability insurance, quality affordable CEU's and of coarse the comradery. State and National Chapters offer the combined strength in knowledge, education and research that is so vital to uplifting our profession and bringing it forward into the integrated healthcare system of today.

I was elected Delegate this past spring and was able to travel to Cleveland to enjoy the national convention.

It was a fun and educational experience, I enjoyed engaging in the discussion topics of this year and of course meeting all of our broad in person.

Florida is a big state and our membership is quite large but my job as a delegate is to be aware of what is impacting massage therapy in my state; in education requirements, regulation, continuing education, cultural issues, socio-economic issues, diversity and employment practices. If you have something that is effecting your practice or the way you work as a massage therapist please feel free to share your concerns and I will do my best to assist you in your journey to a successful outcome.
